Aromatic, flowery and gently fruity as only Speysiders can be, but with a medium body. Our personal touch was a short finish in a fresh Pedro Ximenez cask… just a little bit less than a full year. While the distillery character is still able to shine through, with a nice fragrant yeasty maltiness like in a fine Scottish red ale, we have succeeded in enhancing the delicate fruitiness of the whisky. Still fresh and never heavy-handed, it has a profile of red apples, blood oranges and apricots, but it also has a rich raisiny quality that lingers in the background. The contrast between its sunny and lightweight feel and its darker, sweeter, more honeyed notes of dried fruits is what makes it a perfect malt to accompany an evening of transition from summer to autumn.
