Ben Nevis 2013

From the western coast of Scotland, at the feet of the highest mountain in the Highlands, this distillery has always made a medium bodied single malt of distinction, renowned for its fragrance of orange rinds and its creamy mouthfeel. We let it rest for a little more than one year in a first fill Oloroso cask to enhance its fruity character, and now it’s ready. At the nose, it’s particularly winey, with the typical dry and earthy notes that are expected from this kind of sherry. On the palate, it starts mellow and fragrant, with oranges, red berries and a firm malty character before showing a particularly nutty touch. The winey character is evident, raisiny but dry, with a rather astringent balance. Rich, fruity and ripe, but also lean and appetizing.
