A very special cask, the best of the batch, was selected for this limited release for our 30th Anniversary. We say very special, because – mysteries of whisky maturation – it has evolved into a unique profile that reminds us of that of malts from decades ago, with that overripe and decadent flavour palette that we love so much. At the nose it’s richly fruity: bananas, peaches, apricots, grapes, and even a whiff of melon. It’s raisiny and honeyed too, but what’s really striking is the overall impression of fruit salad with a touch of wine. The same fruitiness is found at the palate, with also fresh sweet orange juice: it’s creamy, thick, almost resinous, with a juicy “old sherry” impression. At the same time it maintains a nervous peppery spiciness, which increases in the finale: mouthcoating, a bit tannic but overall so rounded.
