Definitely one of the smokiest Ledaigs we ever had the pleasure to taste! So peated that it could almost be mistaken for an Islay malt, if it weren’t for that quizzical twist so typical of whiskies from the Isle of Mull. At the nose it’s wild and wickedly misbehaved: huge organic notes of wet leather, grassy earth, and a nutty character no doubt due to the sherry. The palate is a sensory explosion, a full peat smoke attack backed by vegetal notes, salt, white pepper, unsugared liquorice. Definitely maritime! It grows more and more explosive, and even more smoky, leaving the palate coated in ashes and coal, but dry and clean. Very reminiscent of our “Heavy Peat” Bunnahabhain from a few years ago!
