The natural softness, springtime aromas and round character of this Speyside malt finds a perfect complement in the sweetness of a Virgin Oak cask, which amplifies its fragrance and its creamy taste. The nose is very malty, with notes of fresh vanilla, apricots and candied citrus. The taste confirms that it’s a very honeyed whisky, with echoes of beeswax and white and yellow fleshed fruit (bananas, apples, peaches). It’s supple, velvety and flowery, sweet without being cloying: all this gentleness of taste, though, doesn’t come at the expense of mouthfeel, and we might actually say that it has a rather robust body. Only towards the end, a hint of pepper starts to shine through, perfectly complementing the sweetness.
