Clynelish 1997

Similarly to our sister bottling at 46{826dba106c0ea3dc39b2a6cf29d2f9874af538af8e6a32b00795f57f89d6ed4f} of Cask#6491, this is a very classically styled Clynelish which shows the true beauty of this malt without the oak overpowering the spirit. So once again we have a very clean, malty, waxy and mineral whisky, with a precise and pure profile. What makes this bottling slightly different is that it’s even more intense, and that it also offers a touch of liquorice and propolis. It has an initially slightly sweeter profile on the palate (due to a probably slightly more active bourbon cask), but then it reverts to a subtly sour and appetizing note. Finally it lingers in the mouth with a moderately tannic and peppery aftertaste. An equally timeless old-fashioned Clynelish, but with a slightly different twist.
