A secret Speyside single malt, from a very renowned distillery that we can’t reveal, that fully showcases the dry influence of Oloroso sherry. As expected, the aroma is very winey with evident oxidative overtones, with those typical nutty and toasted notes, a hint of raisins and dried figs. This is even drier than usually expected, very appetizing. As it often happens with Oloroso, this also translates in a tasting experience that sees the wine winning over the sweetness of the malt: it’s rather astringent, austere, with a fruitiness that borders on a pleasantly sour tone, and again very nutty. Hints of balsamic vinegar appear after a while, with a touch of camphor too. Perfectly suited as pairing with seasoned cheese or dark chocolate.
