A sweet and fruity twist on one of our very old grains: following our previous successful experiment with Clynelish, we used the same Hungarian Tokaji cask for this Cameronbridge too. The experiment yielded a grain whisky that is much more complex and malt-like than usual! The nose is full of cereals, with only a hint of wine but a very interesting perfume of coffee. At the palate, it is particularly expressive: butter biscuits, a touch of dried apricots, vanilla, honey and chocolate, and again a very marked taste of sugared coffee. Mind you, the result is not overwhelmingly sweet nor thick (this was a second fill cask after all), but a very soft, creamy character has been added to the refined and delicate fragrance of the grain whisky.
